Personality Bio
I remember watching the thirty minute music video segments on Home Box Office aka HBO...way back in the day!
Eventually, I moved on to Night Flight and Night Tracks, all the while hearing that kids out in Hawaii Kai were getting a free bonus channel, the mythical Music Television or MTV.
Soon enough, MTV reached Kaneohe and when I attended high school in Lahaina, the music video watching never waned!
My fave magazines through the 1980's varied with the music: Creem...Tiger Beat...Rolling Stone...Cosmopolitan...most times, I would borrow the titles from cousins or my neighbor's older brother or sister (since they had jobs and could buy them on the whim...).
Shopping for music was just as varied, from the Gem store to Coronet. Going to Tower Records on Keeaumoku was for serious shopping; going to Jelly's 404 Piikoi was to risk running into Willie Wonka's version of a wonderland of ALL music; if you needed Hawaiian titles, there was a store on the ground level near Center Stage that had the hook up, including music sheets and instruments.
I love live music. My first cassette tape was an "even exchange" Christmas gift from a classmate named Tina. I had wanted the new (at the time) U2 album "The Unforgettable Fire" though she ended up giving me "Under a Blood Red Sky".
At first I was disappointed though this was the beginning of my true understanding of what My Taste in Music -- and everything else! -- came into being!

IN THE '80'S is a general overview of the decade, really skimming over various big events, from High-to-Low points in fashion, the Space Shuttle Challenger to President Reagan's assasination attempt and introduction of the compact disc to the general public!
1980's: FAD OR FASHIONABLE? I had Pet Rock...more so, I remember my mom used to paint and draw and when that whole Pet Rock thing came about, I wanted one! She got real festive and painted monkeys, lions and other fun animals on them!
THE POLICE aka The Best Little Band...ever! This site is fan driven and really came in handy when Andy, Stewart and Sting decided to hit the road (finally!) after disbanding in 1984!
SADE aka The Voice...for clarification: "Sade" is the name of her group as well as part of her name: Helen Folasade Adu. Their music made the greatest impact throughout the '80's and their most recent album was LOVER'S ROCK in 2000.
RATE MY MULLET! please release this into the wild...not that anything is wrong with it. Did I say that with a straight face?!

(ABOVE: "PRETTY IN PINK" - DUCKIE/Jon Cryer serenading ANDY/Molly Ringwald and her boss, played by Annie Potts [yea, from Designing Women!])
(ABOVE: SAY ANYTHING - LLOYD DOBLER/John Cusack held the boombox overheard and outside the window of DIANE/Ione Skye's bedroom. Remember? That was THE SONG that played on the car radio when they had...uhm, parked...)
(ABOVE: THE LOST BOYS -- in my heart of heart's, I really wanted to live the night life with Keifer Sutherland when he played the blondest bad boy vampire in California, like, ever!)
(ABOVE: SIXTEEN CANDLES - JAKE RYAN/Michael Schoeffling...he made sweaters look really hot...and his hair, he had GREAT HAIR!)
(ABOVE: FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH - JEFF SPICOLI/Sean Penn was the template for West Coast surfer-stoner-goofy-goodness! Anthony Edwards and Nic Cage played his best buds, too!)
(ABOVE: REAL GENIUS - CHRIS KNIGHT/Val Kilmer had funny moments, ironic looks and could really pull together a stylish ensom. AND he proved SMART can equal SEXY!)
(ABOVE: TOP GUN - ICEMAN/Val Kilmer...I also remember crushing on GOOSE/Anthony Edwards! MAVERICK/Tom Cruise was too serious though I did appreciate Tom Skeritt's role...)

I just really love his voice and my friend used to say I had a thing for Englishmen who couldn't dance...I do not know about that though as evidenced in the following music videos, JOHN WAITE looks great doing whatever he chooses to!
(ABOVE: From his solo work, MISSING YOU:)
(ABOVE: From his collaborative work with BAD ENGLISH (easy on the hair spray and teasing!))
