Joined KSSK:  Feb 1985, part-time , moved to Kona in August of 1987 for my 1st full time gig. Moved back to O’ahu in  June of 1994 to be full-time with  KSSK and have been here ever since.

If I had a theme song it'd be:  "Home" by Olomana

Originally from:  Born and raised right here in Honolulu

I now reside:  In Kaimuki

My first...

**Live musical concert:  Little River Band at the Blaisdell in '77 or '78
**Audio Purchase: 1972 - Neil Young's "Heart of Gold" on 45
**Paying job:  Bus boy at Harvest House Coffee Shop at Woolworth in Kahala Mall

When away from the radio station, you may find me:  Always enjoying being with my wonderful wife Heather and my 2 boys Caleb and Zach.

When I get the chance to eat out, I enjoy:  Thai or Chinese food from "Champa Thai" and "Yen King"

My favorite things!...

++Movies, actors/actresses:  Anything with Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Sandra Bullock, Kate Hudson.  I love any type of comedy because I love to laugh.

++Books/authors: When I read,  I fall asleep.

++Magazines:  Entertainment Weekly, Consumer Reports

++Websites:  Too many to mention.

++Albums, bands/artists:  I still like "fore" from Huey Lewis and the News -- the very 1st CD I ever purchased.  And when I'm kickin back with friends and family or taking my daily walk, I love listening to a lot of Hawaiian (local) music and some reggae.

++Sports, teams:  Not into any except for maybe the NFL playoffs and the Super Bowl.

++Places to shop, spend money:  Tamura's in Kaimuki...I love their wine selection and awesome poke

The trend I still don't get is:  On guys -- the baggy pants draggin on the gournd and hanging below the waist to show the brief or boxer band.  On women -- the 'super duper tight' as low as possible jeans/pants.

Even while I live in paradise, I dream about visiting:  My homeland of Portugal "viva la Portugal"

One of the things I really appreciate about living in Hawaii is:  Its people and those that have adopted the "Spirit of Aloha." After all, we are all in this life together, so let's make the most of our one shot at this awesome life. :)

Bonus round: My mos' favorite pidgin words and da kines:

Relishing married life
Friday 09-26-2008 4:46pm HA

Two fast food addicts celebrated their marriage with their dream wedding cake - a 42lb cheeseburger.

Tom and Kerry Watts' mammoth burger was nearly half a metre wide and weighed the equivalent of about 100 quarter pounders.

It was the highlight of the couple's wedding reception which was held at Zak's American diner in Norwich.

Firefighter Tom, 36, said: "Not only did I get to marry the woman of my dreams but I also got to have the burger of my dreams in the same day.

"I could not believe the size of the burger. It was just incredible. Everything has just been amazing. It was the best day ever."

Kerry, also 36, added: "We love burgers and thought it would be a bit of fun. It made the day even more special. We love chocolate too so we also had a chocolate cake."

It took butcher John Baxter a whole day to create and shape the giant burger which weighed 400oz when uncooked.

It had to be cooked for three hours and required three chefs to lift it out of the oven before it could be put into the specially made sesame seeded bun.

The bun alone weighed 5kg and staff had to cut it in half using a saw. The burger also featured 12 iceberg lettuces, 12 onions, 30 tomatoes, 48 slices of dill pickle, 2kg of cheese, a litre of ketchup and a litre of mayonnaise.

New suit can be worn in showe??
Monday 09-22-2008 4:32pm HA

An Australian company has invented a suit that can be worn in the shower.

The garment has been specially designed so that it can be cleaned under the shower head with no soaking, dry cleaning - or even soap.

Australian Wool Innovation says it has already received 170,000 orders from Japan for its revolutionary shower suit.

AWI spokesman Stephen Feighan told The Australian newspaper that the suit could be worn in the shower, although it was probably better to drape it on a clothes hanger to wash it.

"The idea is that you hang it up and then you give it a spray, and leave it overnight, and it's dry the next morning,'' he said.

The shower suit appealed to busy corporate people, particularly those who travelled frequently or stayed up late, Mr Feighan said.

It's Talk Like a Pirate Day...Arrrrrrrrgh!
Friday 09-19-2008 6:23pm HA

Quick pirate joke: man walks into a bar ands sees a pirate with a peg leg, an eye patch and a hook for a hand. The guy feels bad for the pirate and buys him a drink. They knock back a few and the man asks how the pirate lost his leg. The pirate says, "I lost this here leg to sharks in the Caribbean." The man nods and asks how the pirate lost his hand. The pirate replies, "I lost this here hand in a duel with Davy Jones himself." The man nods and asks how the pirate lost his eye. The pirate says, "I was sleeping on a beach and a seagull dumped in it." The man, confused, asks how that could possibly take somebody's eye out. The pirate replies, "I tried to wipe it away, but it was my first day with the hook."

Stimulus Checks??
Thursday 09-18-2008 4:50pm HA

Summer is over and those rebate checks have been cashed, and a new Harris poll finds the White House will be disappointed: 52% of Americans say spending the checks did not stimulate the economy and only 37% say that it did.

Break it down by political party, and 52% of Republicans say rebate checks did stimulate the economy; 61% of Democrats and 56% of Independents say that it did not. As for what it got spent on, the poll finds two-thirds of the money went to the bank or to credit card issuers.

# People primarily used their rebate checks to reduce non-mortgage debt such as paying off bills or credit cards (36%) and to add to their cash savings (29%)

# One in five (21%) did actually spend the money on other things they wanted to buy

# Just one in ten (11%) actually used the rebate to take a trip for leisure purposes

# Americans spent their money on home improvements (14%) and in restaurants and dining out (12%)

# Only five percent said they used the money for technology devices or entertainment events

Fashion Emergency:
Friday 09-05-2008 7:23pm HA

Sick of wading through your closet to find what you want to wear every morning? Self magazine reports that we generally wear 20% of our wardrobe 80% of the time, so a good key to finding what you really need is to turn all your hangers backward with the hooks facing you. When you wear a specific item, turn it back the other way, and after one month you should have a good gauge of what you need to keep front and center and what can be packed away or donated to charity.
